In Flanders, the gastronomy is rich and varied. Dishes are based on recipes transmitted from mother to daughter. Sweet and savoury traditional dishes are full of flavour : pot'je vleesch, a mix of 3 different white meats, carbonade flamande flavoured with beer, cassonade (soft brown sugar), hard cheeses, waffles and sugar tarts. The flavoursome beers and local apple juice will go perfectly with the dishes. |

These small traditional cafés and old-style bistrots are nowadays, first and foremost, warm welcoming places in which visitors can feel at home. In them you will find a relaxed and convivial ambience with old-fashioned décor in which wicker baskets, enamelled coffee pots and strands of dried hops are intermingled with collections of old toys and games and post cards and advertising posters from the past. |
